The HVS offices in Boston offer the following divisions:
Boston's consulting and valuation services include market data and research (market trends, hotel assets, and property transactions); appraisals of resorts, full- and limited-service hotels, and other properties; and feasibility studies for proposed properties. We serve hospitality markets throughout the U.S., and our staff brings a collective background of multi-national experience.
Our involvement in the industry runs deep. Director Tom Dolan has evaluated hundreds of hotels, served as guest lecturer at Boston University's School of Hospitality Administration, and has more than a decade of first-hand experience in hotel and restaurant operations. Partner Rod Clough, MAI, comes from a background of nearly 20 years of hotel experience, hundreds of property evaluations, active appraisal certification in more than 30 states, and a long list of publications and conference engagements.
Tom and Rod manage an appraisal staff that thoroughly knows hotels. All of our associates have actual hotel operating experience as well as extensive training in real estate; most have academic degrees in hotel management.
As the market changes, so must we. Our reports set the standard for the industry by being accurate and timely; our staff draws from a constantly evolving cache of appraisal tools and data. Boston is also home to our Hotel Parking Division, HVS/Ultimate Hotel Parking Solutions, established in 2003. HVS/UHPS provides 15 years of hospitality parking management and consulting, and services clients throughout North America. It is staffed by individuals with degrees in hotel management, and professionals that have managed hotel parking operations for a wide variety of hotel types and sizes
In addition to providing hotel parking consulting and valuation services, the Boston office provides full back-office support for parking field operations in those cases where HVS/UHPS manages the parking operations for our hotel clients. The office includes full time accounting, legal, risk management, human resources and training departments that can provide value not only to our own operations, but to those hotel parking operations that utilize our consulting services. The result is a wide, but deep understanding of all aspects of parking and hospitality, which is a rare marriage. That is why the Boston office's niche focus on hotel parking is so valuable.
The Boston office has managed the parking operations of, or provided consulting services to a number of hallmark hotel flags including Ritz Carlton, Starwood, Hilton, Wyndham and Fairmont among others. In addition, the office has a history of serving and a particular understanding of, smaller, boutique properties as well. Depending on the services being performed, the Boston office is equipped to dispatch personnel to client sites as well as provide efficient remote consulting via data collection and analysis.
